Underground Interview With Carol-Anne
Carol-anne is from Cape Town, South Africa and signs her work under the artist name Ignite. Carol-anne finds inspiration in many places and has traveled to Durban, Namibia and Johannesburg which has influenced her creative style.
She creates art because she wants to share with other people.
She specializes in writing vocals with her three octave voice range and focuses on Christian contemporary radio. Carol-anne also enjoy doing gigs and recording, as well as creating music videos for her new releases.
Carol-anne's art style is Jazz with some flavoring of pop music. She is motivated by her producer in Georgia where we co-write and my fans! They keep me going especially when they come along on the journey with her. Carol-anne has been singing from the time she was 8 years old and not too much later she wrote my first song at 11 years old. Carol-anne says her favorite artists are Lauren Daigle and Tanita Tikaram. Lauren has nice jazzy vocals and Tanita Tikaram has darker, timber vocals. Just about the same as her range!
She connects with the art community by Offering her availability for session work, playing at festivals, weddings and restaurants. ICarol-anne has also Have led many worship teams. Her video “Set Our Hearts On Fire” is featured on musicforchrist.net. and write away magazine. Her work has shown at different events around Cape Town, on YouTube, Colledge Underground Radio on their country/rock blog and jango.com also kenzieg music streamed from Chicago, Just finished recording her 2nd song called Invasion and busy preparing to shoot official music video for Invasion. Overall when people see her work, she hopes they will be touched emotionally, as she writes and sing from an emotional place.

My favorite artists growing up were Tanita Tikaram, Basia and Linda Ronstad and Belinda Carlise, currently Hillsong United, Casting Crowns Laren Daigle is my fave she has those jazzy vocals similar to mine.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
Yes absolutely I co-write with an incredible producer in Georgia Steve Nobles and a very talented Videographer Amy Kelly. I have just finished recording my new track Invasion completely different but carries a Powerful message preparing to shoot my Official Music Video. My fans will get glimpses of 15sec clips from video also behind the scenes footage. Ready to record 3rd track s song about Hope for the Nations so lots of exciting content to follow.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
I absolutely love creating art and definitely write and sing from an emotional place so I would love to keep building onto my amazing fan base and share Hope and Love through writing and singing for the Lord.
My plan of action is to get a flow of traffic who enjoy listening to my music take them over to my YouTube channel and spotify once in spotify to stream and follow me and be housed by my Facebook page which is my artist page and to go back and forth to my YouTube channel and my spotify with new releases and then back again to Facebook.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
I'll definitely say Set Our Hearts On Fire as it is such a versatile track, on mic night I can either take my backing and vocal to a nice vibey upbeat feel or I can just grab my guitar and do a laid back acoustic version.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Healed from damaged lungs.
Just a year and a half ago I contracted covid was very ill with covid pneumonia I sold my guitar as I was too ill and never thought I would ever be able to do music ever again my lungs were flooded with fluid for 7 months my air capacity was only 30 per cent tears would soak my pillow daily crying my heart out to Jesus to heal me there was nothing my doctors could do, my lungs were permanently damaged hope was fading and I wanted to give up the fight it was too hard to breathe and when I was about to stop fighting the Lord radically healed me I received my Miracle and here I am healthy lungs 100% restored. Writing and singing doing what I am passionate about.
Set Our Hearts On fire was birthed out of this miracle.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
I cannot write unless it just flows onto paper sometimes it will take me 5min to write a song that's how long Set Our Hearts On Fire took 5min and I had lyrics and guitar flowing together on some occasions it could take 15 to 20min but that is maximum songs flow for me.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
For the positive Digital Marketing online space has been so crucial for audience Engagement as due to covid gigs arent possible so social media is where I can keep on engaging with my fans online and across the globe which is exciting seeing so many fans from so many countries engaging with Set Our Hearts On Fire.

What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
I am still doing fundraising for National Sea Rescue however my dream is to do music fulltime writing and singing doing what I'm passionate about.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
It is hard work you have to keep working at it and when your fans engage with you engage back with them build keep building it is worth it, also collaboration is so key for different music writing styles but most of all stay passionate in what you love and believe in yourself.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
I wouldn't change anything the freedom of artists to make their own music and literally have their own business is amazing.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
I love originality thats where your own style is allowed to bloom and you sound more like you.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
I love writing from the deepest part of my heart and sharing my creations with the world to bring Hope, as I believe the Lord gives me the songs to write from His heart.
