Greetings CUR listeners!
I grew up in Birmingham, England. It’s the 2nd biggest city, to our Capitol. I’m proud to be a Brummie and proud of the amazing music and icons that my city and the Midlands has birthed. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Bonham/Plant, Lemmy and my childhood heroes Duran Duran, just to name a few. Thanks to my parents, I grew up in a very eclectic musical household where Sundays were dedicated to listening (top volume) to one of the thousands of albums we had on, um, yes, VINYL! I was taught to treat records like babies and God fucking help you if you didn’t put that needle down as gently as possible! We were a house of music lovers and it’s been with me ever since… now we pass it on to our kids!
I left the Motherland for the U.S. at 18 after 2 years at Art College, joined a band and met my multi-talented hubby RQ as our bands played the same clubs. We’ve been doing it ever since! Besides my pretty long hiatus while we were making and raising babies. Our kids are both musicians too!
When the opportunity arose to write for College Underground Radio and Shockwave Magazine, I jumped at it. Side Stage was born. Married couple, both playing in bands, writing about the scene that we’re a part of, sort of, straight from the horse’s mouth. Lots of cool reviews, interviews and experiences to rant and rave about. Trust me, we’ve seen it all and have lots of stories to share!
Now it’s just li'l old me as RQ is so busy! I’m really happy to be sharing my big mouth on here with College Underground Radio and sharing some cool new music with you from up and coming bands from the DC/MD/VA area.
