Well, at lease for the music industry as far as I’m concerned. Stupid sheep, believing what the radio tells them to listen to, auto-tune mind control, mindless shite music everywhere! Thank eff there are still genuinely talented musicians out there, as for the rest of it, Dr. Queen prescribes an extra strength Enema! Shove it! Thank eff for School of Rock! Someone needs to teach these kids what’s up with real music! My son Cam has always played drums and I thought it was time for him to join Frederick’s School of Rock. I’ll be doing a more in depth story on this in the new year (if we get there).
We checked out one of 3 Punk shows they did last month and these kids kicked some serious arse! If your child has any interest in music you should sign them up at your nearest location ASAP! RQ and I were saying how we wished we had had something like this when we were kids. These kids not only get lessons, but get to jam with other kids, join a band and play gigs put on by School of Rock. You could teach a kid to sing or play an instrument and they can grow up to be really good at what they do, but it doesn’t mean shit if you can’t jam and ‘hang’ with other musicians. You can’t teach someone to cook with one ingredient their whole life, how are they gonna make a kick ass salad when they grow up? Cam loves it and can’t wait to go each week, it really is awesome!
My highlight this past month was getting to photograph the Deftones live at Rams Head. Check out my review. Yeah ok, I’m a little biased because Chino is my vocal God, but it was an amazing show. I can confirm that Chino was wearing Calvin Klein boxer briefs. Plus, their new album Koi No Yokan is ridiculously good and delivers everything you could want from the Deftones.
The new Soundgarden album is undeniably great but there is something missing for me, can’t quite put my finger on it. RQ and I are butting heads on this one, he said it made him feel like he was 19 again. I don’t know what it is, yes it’s frigging good, but I’m bothered on the inside parts, I just don’t know???
Shit you should check out – Lettuce, a funk band RQ saw in NYC and then last month at 9:30 Club. Talk about phenomenal musicianship! Check em out, you will not be able to keep you little booty still when you listen to them!
So be safe, whomever you kneel and pray to (or don’t), I don’t give a shit, just be safe and make 2013 kick ass with whatever you do! (If there is a 2013 of course).
