My ears perked up, foot started tapping and I asked, “Who is this country singer?” Found out she is Afton Prater, voted “Best Teen Female Artist” and “Best Album” in the 2014 Indie Music Channel Awards in Hollywood plus “Best Teen Songwriter” and “Best Country Songwriter” in the 2013
Indie Music Channel Songwriting Competition. That is a lot of accomplishments for a young artist. Then I listened to her CD (and so should you) on College Underground Radio, where she is in heavy playlist rotation. This young artist has amazing songwriting talent and we caught up with her to ask a few questions. Here is Afton Prater:

Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Never give up. Be yourself. These two statements are very important. First, never give up, You have a gift and you should use it! Sometimes it might be hard and you might not think it's worth it, but it will lead to greater and better things in the future. Sometimes you don't know your own strength. Second, Be yourself, You are unique and beautiful in your own way, and that's something special!
How Do You Feel About Originality?
I feel originality is very important for not only people in general, but for artists. It's who they are, what they wear, the type of music they sing, their differences, that make them real artists. If we were all the same, that would be extremely boring. Its your differences that make you special.
