What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
Alternative rock, indie rock, psychedelic rock, blues rock, dream rock, a lot of different styles I guess, I just love making music that is free, inspired and uplifting and I have fun experimenting with different styles
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
I was inspired by the Albatross flight while I was spending a long time in the Caribbean island of Santo Domingo. Albatross have the ability to glide with no effort in such a beautiful way that I really loved watching them until they disappeared in the sky, and I felt deeply connected with them maybe because making music and sharing it makes feel like I am shining and gliding in the same time. Also the idea of Flying and gliding is strictly related to the idea of shining, of brilliance and light. So I came out with this name "Shiny Glide" and I love it.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
I like and respect all types of music and artists. I used to listen to a lot of classic rock like Pink Floyd, led Zeppelin, Supertramp, King Crimson, Nick Drake, Billy Idol, Cocteau Twins, I also like a lot of neopsychedelic bands like The Black Angels, The Black Keys, Connan Mockassin, Joel Gion, Psychic Illsand many more. I also like some lofi pop and dream pop like Michael Seyer, Sunset Rollercoaster, Ariel Pink, Drugdealer, Johnny Goth and many more, simply because I like to listen to a lot of new music and discover new artists on Spotify. I am not the nostalgic type of person and music lover, I prefer to live and enjoy the present and new artists. I consider myself a new artist because I keep on creating, growing and releasing new music. All artists are really Always new if they can do that.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
I just finished recording, mixing and Mastering my new album "Dare to be reborn" that will be released in the end of May. I will keep on releasing new material after that, like singles, eps, albums with songs and even some instrumental music I composed. I am often creative and busy, making and producing new music, and I keep on practicing my songs and my guitar daily, looking forward to the days I can have the chance and the honor to tour internationally. I would also love to collaborate with other new artists as a guitar player, producer and even songwriter. That's why I have a page as a provider(guitar player and producer) on Soundbetter where you can find the best musicians and producers to collaborate with.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
To be able to tour and share my music on a deep level with my best fans. It is a long and hard way to build some credibility, name and success as an artist. I need to move to a place like Nashville or Los Angeles to do that, there is a great music scene over there. I guess it is important to be in the right place and in the right time. Where I am from, in the South of Italy there is no space connection and future for my music. So I spend all my time writing and producing my music, even when I sleep I make musical dreams, or when I am in the bathroom I can have musical ideas, I even wrote a poem in the bathroom and when I eat I Always have to listen to the right music that fits into my mood.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
I like performing and playing a lot of songs of my new album because they really elevate my spirit when I sing them, songs like "Dare to be reborn" "Infinity is on my side", "No Chains", Queen of blue". These are songs that really capture my "Shiny Glide" essence.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Not caring what people say including my family who doesn't really support and share my dreams and my music. I have learned to believe in myself no matter what so called family and friends say or do(or I'd rather say don't do)for you. That is a big lesson, we must be our own best friends and fans.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
there are many ways a song can be born, they are all unpredictable, that's why they are so magic and precious. It could be from just playing around with some chords on my guitar, or instead starting with the lyrics in a sleepless night where some words start floating in my head until I decide to get up and write them down. Or could be by working on some keyboards progression or drum beats on my daw.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
Social media are great for music promotion, Facebook, youtube, spotify are great. This a great time for making and sharing music, I guess I am a digital type of guy. Anyway I wish YouTube and Spotify could be a little more generous, life is hard for the real independent artist with no label support. It all depends on money in the end, and many times I have been considered by my best fans like some great and underrated artist. So all types of support is welcome to change this frustrating situation.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
The Black Keys, Joel gion, Michael Seyer, Pink $ock, Thriathalon, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Nick Drake, a little bit of everything and every time.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
Before making music I was dreaming of making music. And that is what I did. I just became more professional and focused with time, practice and a lot of mistakes in the past too that have become regrets today. But that's life anyway.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
I advised them to believe in themselves if they have talent and to never give up and invest time and energies to progress. If they have no talent but just ego and vanity I would tell them to quit and give more space and opportunities to those who have talent and really deserve some success.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
I would like all people to be more free, more real, more sympathetic, welcoming and generous. We all use computers but we are still human beings, so we can all be more generous, passionate and encouraging and less cynical and mechanical, so we can understand and support all the beauty and the talent around us.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
It is a rare gift in a world of sheep. great artists exist just for the same reason why the stars can shine. If there were no darkness in the night no star could shine, if there were no sheep or conformist robots no artists could have a chance to shine or even be noticed and rewarded.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
I love making music, it is hard work and hard life too, but I don't mind because I love it and I work hard and go through all the joy and pain of making because I love it and I love the people, every single one of them that listen to me on Spotify or YouTube or anywhere else and can feel some strong, real emotions, inspiration and even company and support in times of joy and in times of troubles.
