Hailing from St. Paul, Minnesota USA, Concrete Injection blends the sounds of their collective influences (rock, pop, grunge, acoustic, hip hop and metal) into their own unique formula with a familiar intonation that inspires force, passion and emotion from each and every listener.
I caught up with Concrete Injection fresh from their Discover Contest win with College Underground Radio. Here is what they had to say:
What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
We're an in your face, hard rock band that is reminiscent of Metallica and other metal greats through the decades dating back to Black Sabbath.
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
We wanted a name that would let people know we're a serious hard rock band - Concrete Injection - came to mind as being just the right name for our project.
What Are or Have been Your Musical Influences?
Yes we have them just like everyone else. We'll spare you the details, just listen to some of our music online and you'll definitely be able to pick out many of them.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
We're in the process of interviewing a management company that fits us both personally and professionally. We're also continuing work with the world famous Winterland Studios outside of Minneapolis where everyone from Prince to Nirvana had work tracked mixed for some of their world famous songs.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
World domination via trickery and mischievous behavior whenever possible.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
"Stained Teeth" as it has personal meaning to everyone who has ever been in a relationship with a crazy person.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus far?
Dealing with over excess when it comes to beer, partying and balls out behavior. (SoTa James & CuTTy in particular!)
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
External influences. Nothing more, nothing less.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
Social media is basically a toilet that we despise, but a necessary evil.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
Wow, that's a good question. We have a ridiculously wide range of pop, grunge and reptilian music in the rotation, that's for certain. Do the math.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
We can't remember back that far, it was in another lifetime and Shirley MacLaine is the only person who can remember such things.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Don't even try to be like us, we're weird and like it that way. Take a listen and you'll see.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
Well I'd bring back the record stores, they don't exist anymore. That would be a good start.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
Of course this is the most important part to growth as a musician, playing other peoples music isn't where it's at in our opinion.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
Thank you, we appreciate the time and really appreciate College Underground Radio, YOU GUYS ROCK and we encourage all others to participate in the monthly contest.
